St John the Babtist was the son of Zacchary and Elizabeth.
Zacchary was faithful priest and so was Elizabeth, however she was barren until by God's Grace and His perfect time, she was conceived in her old age.
John was nurtured in priest family and tradition. However, priesthood life during his time was corrupted. They used the law for their own self righteousness.
John, the chosen one chose the Lord. He turned down all the world offered and stayed in the wilderness and poverty and help others to prepare the arrival of Messiah.
His roles were very crucial during that time since lots of people were lost and they were longing for the truth to free them and direct them back to the right path. Without him, the world would not prepare for Jesus.
So, can we be like St John the Babtist in this modern era, to help others to repent and focus back to God despite all the challenges and temporary sweetness that the world offer ?
